Leinster Schools: Flanno hurdles into All Ireland finals

Day 1 of the Leinster School`s track & field took place in Morton Stadium. These Leinster finals are not easily reached so to have made it thus far was an achievement in itself…to progress even further, however, is outstanding. Truly outstanding today was in particular Brian Flanagan (St. Aidans) in the inter boys 1500 steeple chase who took Leinster gold and now looks forward to his first All Ireland Schools track final in Tullamore at the end of the month.

Excellent runs also by Ross Kearney, also in the St. Aidans colours finishing 2nd in the senior 2000 steeple to book his All Ireland place and by an “over the moon” Alex Hogan to finish 3rd in the junior boys 1500 knocking no less thanĀ 7 seconds off his pb to run 4.24.67.

Other Harriers in action today included Paul Courtney 8th in the senior steeple chase. Ben Guiden with a pb runĀ for 6th in the minor 800, Lauren Carr, also 6th in the minor and Cian Bolger 4th in the minor 1100. In the junior long jump Amy Connolly was 4th, losing out on bronze on count back. Luke Guys was also competing in the inter long jump.

Saturday sees the 2nd day of the Leinsters also in Morton with many Clonliffe athletes competing including Aaron Hanlon, Niall Norman, Adam O`Brien, Greg Hosseny, Joseph Hession, Laura Tuite, Sally Ahern, Dylan Gibbons, Andre Liadova, Megan Comber to name a few with a 9.30am.
