After the regional qualifiers the GloHealth Leinster Finals took place in a showery Morton Stadium this afternoon, with day 2 on Staurday. On offer were places in the All Ireland Schools Finals in Tullamore in June, plus of course coveted Leinster Schools medals. In action today were some of the top up and coming young Clonliffe athletes with fine performances in particular from Holly Roche who took silver in the minor girls 500. Silver also in the minor boys 1100 by Colin Sweeney with Daragh Carter also running a very strong race in 5th. Sean Carrig successfully negotiated the barriers in the senior boys 2000 sc placing a comfortable 3rd. 3rd also for Craig Giles in a very bumpy boys U/16 mile.
In the unlucky category comes Rebecca Fitzsimons who was 4th in a competitive U/16 200. Good runs also today by Aaron Cullen junior 1500, in the mionor girls 800 from training partners Amy Hodson, Ella Brown and Abby Sheehy, Aoife Hession in the minor 1100, Tess Loftus in the U/16 mile, Daniel Lacey in the inter 1500 sc , Stephen in the minor 800, and Thomas Ward in the senior 2000 sc.
