After an age this weekend sees the welcomed return of live athletics. Athletics Ireland will host an indoor micro meet at the NIA Abbottstown on Saturday and Sunday. This invitation only meet is being run in accordance with strict Covid 19 regulations behind closed doors however we can finally get an athletics fix through the wonders of live stream! At stake this weekend are ranking points and potential qualification for the European Indoor Championships in Poland in early March. Fields have not as yet been fully confirmed but there are two Clonliffe athletes confirmed, Greta Streimikyte in the women’s 1500 at 4:10 PM on Saturday and Jonny Whan in the men’s 1500 at 1:40 PM on Sunday. Jonny also paces the final race on Saturday the 3000. The action commences on Saturday at 11:40 AM with the 200 until the 3000 at 6 PM and on Sunday from 11:40 AM with the women’s 400 and concluding with what looks like a cracking men’s 60 M at 4:25 PM. Finally a weekend to look forward to!
