May 23, 2009 [Noel Guiden] Jeremy Lyons was at it again in the Irishtown Stadium last night as he lowered the Clonliffe 400m Hurdles record for a third time. In the GV Ryan Meet hosted by Crusaders AC he roared to a new club record of 53.1. Jeremy`s one man assault on what was the club`s longest standing track record, (and the Treasurer`s cheque book !) began on April 28th last year when he broke the 14 year old record, two weeks later also in the GV Ryan meet he lowered the record again with a time of 53.34 and now is only fractions away from his 11 year old PB of 52.9.
Speaking of PB`s in the IMC races held in conjunction with the GV Ryan David Flynn took just over four seconds off his 1500m PB running 3:55.52 for 6th place. After leading this ‘A’ 1500m race for almost 600m Conor Healy was caught on the last bend and had to be content with finishing third in 3.52.45. Eoin Pearse was 10th in the same race with a season’s best of 4.03.87
Aidan Bailey was on the start list for the 3,000m looking to join the list of Peter McDermott’s athletes achieving PB’s this week. After David Fitzmaurice and Brett Paine on Wednesday and David Flynn and Becky Woods (4.40.86) an hour before hand, confidence was high. With 5th place and a time of 8.18.90 he took over 14 seconds off his previous best performance and was rightfully pleased.
Unfortunately our other entrant in this race, Gary O’Hanlon, was still suffering from the flu as he finished in 8.39.49.
Luke Mangan also set a new PB last night in the Hammer (offical distance tbc).
