The Dublin Master`s Cross Country Championships took place in St. Anne`s Park, Raheny yesterday. Despite the constant rain of recent days the course held up very well indeed with good underfoot conditions and the rain held off until later in the afternoon.
This was a well supporter event which featured a sizeable contingent of Clonliffe Harriers. The men`s O/35 team performed well on the day to finish runner up behind Donore Harriers. The men`s 6,000m race produced a fine run by Declan Fahy to finish 4th overall and win individual O/40 gold. Results: 4th Declan Fahy, 11th Chris Muldoon, 15th Mounir Bouzine, 25th David Byrne, 27th Ciaran McCarthy, 46th Clive Ahern, 63rd Conor Delaney, 65th Jeremy Chapman, 69th Shane Casey, 88th Kevin Dowling, 95th Anthony O`Brien, 105th Alan Worrall, 107th Colm McDonnell, 111th Robert Beckett, 116th Fergal O`Shea, 122nd Richard Barr, 124th Colm Doran, 126th Paddy Tuite, 136th Pat Devitt. The B team placed 13th and the O/50 team 5th.
The women`s team running over 3,000m was lead home in 12th place overall by Bernie Byrne who took O/50 gold. The women`s team finished 6th overall with the following places: 12th Bernie Byrne, 18th Maura Matthews, 35th Aimee Ahern, 44th Karen Kinsella, 52nd Aine McCann, 66th Mandy McMenany, 71st Yvonne McDonagh.
