There was a big contingent of Clonliffe athletes at today’s Donadea half marathon. Although it was a road race with the recent weather conditions it was more akin to a mucky trail race. Mick McMahon ran a fine race and was rewarded by crossing the line in 1st position in a time of 1:22.18. In the women’s race Sinead McDermott took 2nd in 1:37.26, Sinead was also 1st W40. In fact there were many age category prizes for the group: Mary Ketterer was not only 3rd woman but 1st W 45 (1:40.49), 4th place overall was Maura Matthews, and 1st W50 (1:41.24). Laura Kernan took 2nd W 45 (1:46.56) and Orla Deignan 2nd W50 (1:51.21).
Also taking age category plaudits were Mick Birmingham, 1st M50 (1:39.10), 2nd M50 was Shane Rooney with Mick Gleeson completing the clean sweep as 3rd M50. Declan Grant was 2nd M55.
Completing a great day was Anne Lyons 3rd woman in the full marathon in 3.54.26
