Alan O’Neill reports: While most of our attention was focused on Kilcock on Friday evening, two young Harriers were performing further down the road at the Tailteann Games in Tullamore.Jonathan Fitzsimons ran a blistering final 300m to edge his was into 5th place in the 800m against Ireland’s best under 17 schoolboys. His time of 2.03 gave him plenty to smile about after a fantastic schools season.Next up was Sam Murray who used the same steeplechase tactics as the All Ireland Final 3 weeks ago, breaking up the field with a fast opening lap. Sam battled hard to take 2nd place in 4.41 and in the process gaining his first Irish vest. Sam now looks forward to taking on the best athletes from the England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales at the Schools International in 3 weeks. Well done to both of you!
