The was a brilliant turnout of Clonliffe athletes, numbering almost 40, for this morning’s Dublin 5k championships incorporated into the Rathfarnham 5K. Some excellent performances with standout runs by Colm Rooney, 2nd, and 1st M40, in 14.39 , 6th Fintan Kerins (14.52), 14th Sean Heaslip Owens (15.15) and Jack Maughan, in 30th (15.40), the scoring 4 that took Dublin silver. The women’s team of Niamh Kelly, in a 17.37 PB, , Sarah Bateson (18.15), Hazel Kenny, who also took 1st U/20, 19.16 and Sorcha Gannon, a 19.35 pb initally were showing as 2nd. (Results update issued on Monday with corrected results the women’s team placing 4th!)
Clonliffe made it a women’s U/20 clean sweep, Hazel was 1st, Sorcha Gannon 2nd and Isla Duncan 3rd.
It was a great sight to see so many Clonliffe athletes competing in their club vests with numerous PB’s recorded on the day including Jack Woods, Cian Murray, Darragh Cartner, Lee Duddy, Eamon Harkin, Niall McCaffery, Niamh Kelly, Hazel Kenny, Alanna Burke, Ben Power to name but a fair few!
