With the national senior indoor championships now only a matter of 10 days or so away some of the club’s senior athletes got their final preparations in at tonight’s track and Field live meet at the NIA, Abbottstown.
Showing no ill effects from her excellent run to silver in Sunday’s National Intermediate cross country Niamh Kelly was back on track tonight taking a massive 11 seconds off her mile PB as she finished a brilliant 3rd in a time of 4.51.98, putting her in 3rd position on the Clonliffe all-time list.
Marcus Lawler, having ran a club record over 200 on Saturday tonight ran a 400 PB of 47.03, bettering his previous best by almost half a second, as he finished in 2nd place.
In the 60 heat to Evan Storey finished in 5th place (7.60).
Also in the men’s mile: Niall Sherlock 4.43.14, Jack Quinn 4.48.47.
Earlier in the programme some of the juvenile athletes were in action including once again the usual boys U/16 interclub Clonliffe battle – 1st Mark Kelly (2.16.94), 2nd Connor Kenny (2.16.96), 3rd Hayden Kenny (2.20.78). In the girls U/16 races Adrianna Madrzynska was 5th in heat 1 of the 60 (9.37) and then 8th in the 800 (2.44.53). Lucy Fagan was 3rd in heat 3 of the 60 (10.10) and 9th in the 800 (2.56.61). Ava Fagan finished 6th in her 800 (2.37.12).
