The national senior indoor track and field championships got underway today at NIA Abbottstown. Shannon Sheehy continues with her excellent form and today one national high jump bronze (tie) with a best of 1.70. Eoin Pierce, the defending 1500 champion, successfully negotiate his way into tomorrow’s final finishing second in his heat in 4.01.36.Greta Streimyte was sixth in her 1500 (4.54.03), Leah Bergin was third in her 400 heat (5.99.99), Emer Treacy was fifth in her 200 heat (29.89). Pascal Touche was second in his 200 (22.89). In the 400 Dara Kervick recorded a time of 48.98 finishing second in his heat, Timmy Crowe was a DNF, and making his long-awaited return to the track Brian Gregan was first in his heat in a time of 48.43, the 2nd fastest of the day, and now progresses to tomorrow’s final.
