National medals brought home by juniors and U/23s

Jun 30, 2008 [Noel Guiden] Some excellent performances from the club`s Junior and U/23 squads in Tullamore at yesterday`s Nationals bring a batch of medals back to Santry. There were golden moments provided at Junior level by David Flynn 1st in the 3,000 s/c in 9:41.3 and Ian Rogers in the pole vault with a winning vault of 4.20m. Larry Brady took bronze in the steeple chase in 10:24.6 likewise Mark McDonald in the 800m in 1:57.61. Shauna Furman was 3rd in the junior womens 100m H (16.23). Also in action were 1500m men Eoin McDonnell 6th in 4:04.81, Eoin Pearce 9th (4:09.53) and Dave Fitzmaurice 10th in 4:10.4. Conor Coleman was 5th in the 100m (11.65) and Sarah Finnegan 8th in the 400m (62.47).

At U/23 level the club`s athletes took gold in the Javelin Denise Byrne winning the womens with 39m and Paul Marry the mens with 55.88m. Eamon Byrne took home two bronze medals : hammer (47.01m) and 35lbs distance (8.99m), and was 4th in the discus (34.65).
