Day 2 of the National Indoor Championships in Abbotstown brough a first national senior title for Eoin Pierce in the 1500. In a loaded field Piercey held off Eoin Everard (KCH) and defending champion, going for three in a row, Kieran Kelly (Raheny) to take glorious gold in 3.55.54. Also in the field was clubmate Richie Owens 8th in 4.00.33.
Also today there were silver medals won by Rolus Olusa 60H (8.17) and in the long jump by Keith Marks (7.19m). Eamonn Fahey was 4th in that long jump (6.71m). In the 60 semi final Eamonn ran 7.12. Luke Lennon Ford was just out of the medals in the 400 placing 4th in 48.42.
Clonliffe results from day 1 (Saturday) both Eoin Pierce, 1st heat 1 (4.05.83) and Richie Owens 5th in heat 2 (4.0038) are through to Sundays 1500 final. Also through to the 400 final is Luke Lennon Ford (48.33), Timmy Crowe was 2nd in his heat in 50.49 but doesn’t progress. Eamonn Fahey was 2nd in his 60 heat (7.09) and is through to the semi final. Rolus Olusa was 4th in the pole vault after a 4.10m best, missing out on bronze on count back.
