New Year’s Action

After a night of wild New Year’s Eve celebrations (if you cast your mind back long enough you might remember!) Clonliffe athletes were in the Phoenix Park bright and early for this morning’s Tom Brennan Memorial 5K. The Clonliffe men’s team finished second overall, behind Raheny who included race winner Daniel Stone (14.48), first Clonliffe home was Mark Kenneally in sixth place (15.29), Sean Doran was eighth (15.42) with Cathal Mac hale 26th (16.38) being the scoring three. It was a windy day in the park, hence the slower times, also several Garmin devices indicated that the course was a little over 100 M long. The Clonliffe women placed third led home by brand-new senior athlete, Sarah Bateson, 18th woman (19.12), 19th woman was Megan O’Keeffe (19.25) with Sarah Hawkshaw 23rd (19.49). Other Clonliffe on the day: Elaine McLaughlin (20.55), Declan Murray (22.19) and Pat Devitt (24.49).

Missed over the holiday period was Tudor Moldovan winning the R-Ace 5 K Rd race in Co Louth on 28 December in 16.12.

On New Year’s Eve after recent injury Sergiu Ciobanu finished 3rd in the Grange Fermoy 10k in 31.14.
