Teams through to final as Gregan solos to Euro standard

The big news from Round 2 of the indoor league is Brian Gregan`s solo 47.07 season`s opener inside the European Indoor standard! Both the Clonliffe men and womens team came through today`s round in Athlone and will line up in the final at the National Indoor Arena in Abbottstown next Saturday February 4th.

The men`s team were very strong once again, in addition to Brian Gregan`s win both Andri Mahin and Niall Counihan delivered maximum points. Andri winning the high jump with 1.85m and Niall the triple jump with 14.00m. Chris Sibanda was 2nd in the 200 (22.35), and Niall Norman 6th in the 1500 (4.44.05).

In the guest races Richie Owens won the 800 (1.56.02),Mark McDonald was 4th in the 400 (51.06) and in the 200s Theo Cipriano Cruz was 2nd in his race in 23.03 while Stuart Roche ran 23.31 placing 4th in his.

Scoring maximum points for the women`s team was the ever reliable Ciara McCallion in the 400 winning in 56.48 and in the 1500 Emer O`Brien (4.43.83). Once again Snezana Bechtina chipped in with a good points scoring performance, 2nd in the 200 (25.47) and in true club spirit Orna McGinley togged out in the triple jump placing 7th with a 9.03m (a pb!!) and Diana Markina was 8th in the high jump (1.35m).

In the guest 400 races Leah Bergin had a win in 58.25 and Emma Kelly was 2nd in guest race 2 (61.33).
