Niall puts down marker with Grand Prix Series win

The curtain came down on a very successful 2015 Grand Prix series in the Morton Stadium last night, following a final gallop for the Grand Prixers over 3000m, with the presentation of the final overall prizes. The presentation was made by club President Paddy Marley, who in his speech congratulated all the athletes for their input into an excellent series over the course of the year and thanked the hard working Grand Prix Team under the guidance of Maurice Ahern.

The overall winning prize and trophy went to new Clonliffe Harrier Niall Markey, Niall becoming the the first Clonliffe winner of the series since Colm Hickey in 2011. The superb prize was sponsored by Behan & associates and the Trophy commemorates Noel Guidan Snr. a Co founder of the Grand Prix series in the year 2000. Niall`s prize was presented by the President on behalf of Noel Guiden of Behan & Associates who was unavoidably absent with prizes also being presented to the grand Prix top 6: 2nd Liam Hennessy, 3rd Richie Barr, 4thBrian Mc Cann, 5th Emma Dunne, 6th Kevin Dowling

The P J Linanne Trophy for the fastest athlete in the series went to Sean Doran.

Over the course of the evening the various Clonliffe club cups: Irwin, Horan and Ahern were presented to the winners, along with the Cooney Cup to the club cross country champion Sean Doran.

A great finale to another great, the 15th, Grand Prix Series.
