Nolan 3rd in boston and pole vaulters go 1-2 in Belfast

Jan 27, 2008 [Noel Guiden] At last night`s big US indoor meet, The Reebok Boston Indoor Games at the Reggie Lewis Track, Clonliffe`s James Nolan was third in the Mile in a time of 4.01.06. First was Pablo Soleres (Mex) in 4.00.34 with Rob Myers (USA) second. Despite reports to the contrary Alistair Cragg did not, after all, take part in the meet.

At the National Indoor Championships in Belfast, David Donegan and Anthony McCreary finished 1st and 2nd respectively. With a winning height of 4.75m to Anthony’s 4.65m, David reversed the positions from the National Outdoor Championships of 2007.Our third vaulter Ian Rogers finished 5th.

In the sprints we had four athletes in the mens 60m. Danny Kavanagh had a good championship placing 4th Irishman, his times were 7.08, 7.11 and 7.10. John Laffey ran times of 7.11 and 7.16. Chris Minn 7.33 and Henhrick Famutimi 7.51. In the 200m Chris Minn ran 24.25. Jenny Corcoran was our sole representitive in the womens sprints running 27.29 in the 200m.

In the 800m Conor Healy was most unlucky to go out in the heats placing second in his heat in 1.55.38, an indoor PB. Louise Reilly finished 7th in the womens 3000m in 10.19.91.
