A unique result at a unique race occurred today in the Atlantic Ocean. The Cleasathon 2014 took place on Inis Oirr one of the Aran Islands. A tough course made even tougher as a result of winter storms throwing up new obstacles on a mainly off road 5k and 10k circuit. As anyone who has been to Inis Oirr will tell you smooth tarmac roads are not the norm in any event in these parts, so when the organisers warn of a tough route they mean it! Undeterred the Clonliffe Sherlock Brothers headed West young man for todays event. Tom the Younger taking in the 10K race and Niall the Elder the 5K race. The result a unique Clonliffe Brothers double top: 10k 1st Tom Sherlock (Clonliffe), 5k 1st Niall Sherlock (Clonliffe). Times not to hand but in the words of Niall : “The course was more suited to a mountain race than a road race”.
