O’Leary silvers in Varsity 10,000 debut (Updated)

Sean O’Leary was 2nd for DCU in his 10,000 debut at Friday’s IUAA Championships in Carlow in a time of 30.41.66. In the 800 Darren O’Dwyer had one of those days finishing 7th in his heat (2.05.75) and failed to progress into tomorrow’s final. Oran Kenny, in the TCD colours ran 2.05.89 in his heat, only his 2nd outing over the 800. Also great to see Grace Casey also DCU, who has just joined Clonliffe winning the javelin with 39.18.

Saturday, Day 2 brought gold for Eoin Sheridan in the discuss for RCSI with a 52.65 best. In the 5000 Stephen Cashin record a PB of 15.31.84 for TCD finishing in 10th. In the 4 x 100 relay there was a bit of history made as the TCD quartet, including Clonliffe’s Kenji Miyauchi, set a new Trinity record of 42.81 bettering the existing record that has stood since 1976.
