PBs and more at Dublin juvenile c’ships days 2 & 3

Eugenia Bateson: Day 2 and 3 of the Dublin Juvenile Indoor Championships this weekend and what a weekend it was.
Once again we had very big numbers competiting and outside of medals and National qualifications,  it seems to have been a weekend of PBs. An excellent preparation for the outdoor season. 
Some outstanding performances , however the weekend belonged to U13 Boy Issac O’Neill.  Isaac took to the line in heat 1 of the 60m. Isaac came 2nd in 8.78. Rhys Daly won heat 5 in 8.75. Max Bamford ran in Heat 4 finishing 2nd in 9.14, all three progressing to the semi finals. In the semi finals Isaac came 2nd in his heat and  Q to the Final in 8.43. Rhys and Max were in the 2nd heat with Rhys taking 2nd and Q in 8.63 with Max finishing 7th in 9.01.
In an exciting Final Isaac, Rhys and a Blackrock athlete all clocked 8.67 with Isaac taking the 4th position on photo finish, Rhys taking 5th. An absolute burn up.
In the girls U13 60m our girls were as always out in force. Millie Ryan won her heat in 9.44. Maeva Edo Czechowska progressed to the Semi Final winning that heat in .8.83 and straight into the Final. In another thriller of a final Maeva ran 8.89 and on photo finish was awarded 5th, narrowly missing Nationals.
Staying on the track and increasing the distance on Day 2 of this Championships  Cormac Tynan came 7th in the U16 boys 1500m in 7.59.46. In girls U16 Lucy McFetridge finished 11th in her 1500m  in 5.32.60.
Aaron Murray ran the U19B 1500m finishing 6th 4.33.42
In the U17 Boys 400m, Cross  Country Man Joshua Chalmers had a go at this distance taking a bronze medal in a time of 58.35
In Day 2 field events, U13 Rhys Daly came 2nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.35 and Channing O’Shea came 3rd with a jump of 4.12. In the U14 competition Andrew Low came 4th in a jump of 4.29.
Isaac O’Neill won the U13 Boys High Jump in style with an indoor PB jump of 1.38. 
In the U15 High Jump Eoghan Thompson took 4th with a jump of 1.40. U17 Mathew Keogh finished 2nd with a fine jump of 1.65.The Girls High Jump.was very promising with all girls clearing the starting heights. Michelle is looking forward to progressing these performances to the outdoors.
Sunday saw Day 3 of the Championships. U13 girls 600m saw great Clonliffe representation. Ava Fagan had a great season opener winning her heat with a pb of 1.51.36 which put her in 5th position narrowly missing qualification to Nationals.
In the U16 Girls 800m Lucy McFetridge finished 4th in heat 2 in 2.39.61.  U18 Boys – Tadgh Cowley finished 8th in 2.17.91


In the U15 Boys 800m Conor Kenny took 1st position in heat 1 with 2.14.26. Mark Kelly finished 5th in that heat with a time of 2.23.39.Heat 2, Hayden Kenny had a fine run finishing 4th in 2.19.57 with Eoghan Thompson finishing 6th in 2.28.46. Braxton O’Shea took the win in heat 3 in 2.16.52 with Joel Thomas finishing 6th in 2.34.04. With results on time Conor Kenny took his first Dublin Championship Title and Gold with Braxton O’Sheas time awarding him with the Bronze and National qualification.
U17 Boys sprints saw Mark Murray take 3rd and a small q to the Final with Mathew Keogh finishing 4th. In heat 2 Sam O’Reilly won the heat in 7.38 Q. In the final Sam O’Reilly took bronze in 7.39 with Mark Murray finishing 4th in 7.40.
U19 Emily Jancha continues to turn out Pbs with a win in heat 1 , pb 8.07. She turned it on again in the final with yet another pb of 8.04 taking the bronze.
