Race report: Grand Prix series, Horan cup

Saturday November 23rd, the 2024 Horan Cup, a six mile cross country race, attracted 27 runners. Despite a challenging forecast and the imminent arrival of Storm Bert the race went ahead as scheduled. Following heavy overnight rain the underfoot conditions were testing in places. 

Dave Dunwoody and Maura Matthews shine in Horan Cup: Dave Dunwoody set the early pace taking the lead from the start. He covered the first lap in 5 mins and 2 seconds . This gave him a clear lead of the field which he maintained throughout the race crossing the finishing line in 00:43:04. Mick Bermingham put in a solid performance coming home second in 00:45:13. In third place was Eoin Rafter in a time 00:45:41. Maura Matthews , in a strong run, was first woman home in 00:49:13. In second place and having a fine run was Clodagh Moriarty with a time of 00:49:59. Eimear Griffin was third in 00:50:11. 

Horan Cup results:

Eoin Rafter wins final Grand Prix Race: The Horan Cup was the final race in the 2024 Grand Prix Series. The winner on this occasion was Eoin Rafter. Eoin was also third man home in the race. Dave Hanley was in second place with Declan Murray in third. Congratulations to all three. Presentation Night: Now that the 2024 Series has concluded the Grand Prix Committee would like to invite all participants to our gala presentation night in the Clonliffe Clubhouse on Saturday 7th December 2024 commencing at 7pm. The winner of the overall 2024 Grand Prix Series will be announced on that night.
