Relay silver & bronze, 1500 medals all round

The Dublin Juvenile championships and the rain returned to Morton Stadium tonight. The rain fell from start to finish, but didn`t deter in any way from another great night`s athletics. The menu tonight featured relays for starters and 1500s for mains.

The U/15 girls battled their way into the final, but were run out of the medals in a very competitive final. The U/17 team put in a very strong performance and battled away for the win right until the death, only loosing out on the home straight, but a fine set of silvers for Kate Howlet, Ruth Bergin, Cliona Cooley and Hannah Browne. Likewise great runs from the U/13 girls who took 4 X 100 bronze.

In the 1500s all the Clonliffe athletes put in strong performances with big numbers of black and amber vests in all race. Race of the night was the final race as dusk fell, the U/18 & 19 boys, where a storming finish propelled Joseph Hession from 30m down to a win meters from the line. Eat your heart out Phil Healy!!
