Report: Dublin Graded Meet 2, Tallaght

The poor May weather continued for Wednesday evening`s Dublin Graded Meet in Tallaght. The rain held mostly, however, the strong cold wind mitigated against any prospect of pb`s, except in the case of several of the younger generation of Clonliffe Harriers.

Both Cathal Doyle and Adam O`Brien, junior athletes, had fine runs in the 3,000 Cathal taking chunks off his existing pb as he ran a fine 8.46.46, to place 4th. Similarly Adam ignored the unsavoury conditions putting his head down and was also rewarded with a pb (9.08.30). In the combined b & c race, Matthew Jenkinson, an U/17 also recorded a good pb running 9.43.18. Paul Courtney ran 10.08.56, leading home a Clonliffe train: 15th Fintan McManus 10.15.61, 16th Kevin McKenna 10.19.93 and 17th Thomas Ward 10.25.98.

The only Clonliffe lady in the 3000 was Louise Reilly who placed 3rd in 10.32.12.

In the sprints two Clonliffe athletes competed Snezana Bechtina 3rd in 13.00 and, running his first race in a while, Paul Whelan 4th (11.73).

The two lappers were also in Tallaght, Laura Tuite had a pretty positive run as she finished 2nd in 2.26.95 in B race 2, Alannah Cooley was 4th in B1 (2.32.86), also in this one was Sophie Higgins. Of the lads Joseph Hession won his race (B2) in 2.01.87, Tom Sherlock was 5th in this one in 2.05.07. In race B3 Greg Hossenny was 5th (2.08.40) and Sean O`Leary recorded a pb of 2.14.40 (apologies for late report, official results only published today)
