Report on 2006 club AGM

Nov 19, 2006 [Noel Guiden] Clonliffe Harriers 121st AGM took place in the club bar on Saturday afternoon with a fairly small turn out of members in attendance. Club President Paddy Marley opened the meeting by welcoming the members in attendance which included The Chair of The Dublin County Board Bernie Dunne. The Honory Secretary in his report update the members on the activities of the Committee and various sub-committees over the previous busy 12 months, which included promotion of The Morton Mile, The Clonliffe 2 Mile, The Clonliffe 5 and The Grand Prix series in addition to the hosting of Dublin Cross Country and National Cross country Championships. An update was also provided on possible future developments in The Morton Stadium.

The meeting discussed these possible develpoments in full and there was a full exchange of views, the members were assured that no vote or decision would be made by the Committee without the authority of the members.

Club Captain Joe Cooper reported on the club`s athlete`s success over the last year which included National Men`s Senior Cross Country, National Road Relay and National half Marathon titles as well as National League Runners-up.

The Honory Treasurer Noel Daly provided a comprehensive set of accounts and report on the club`s healthy financial position which included a successful club lotto and thanked in particular his assistant Noreen Keane for her hard work throughout the year.

Bronagh NiBhriain report on the healthy status of the ladies section, outlining the successes of the year which included Dublin Road Novice Championship and more importantly the numbers joining the club and the strides being made.

Gladys Cooper`s report on the Juvenile section was read to the meeting outlining the numbers taking part and the very considerable achievements of our young members.

The President in his address stessed how much he was honoured and had enjoyed his year as our president. He outlined the various activities of the club and praised the performances of the club`s athletes, their coaches and the club`s Captains. He also thanked the Officers and Committee for thier exceptionally hard work over the year. He outlined future activities and in particular the forthcoming Port Tunnel Run and wished all in the club continued success.

Committee : Johnny O`Leary, Paddy Tuite, Mick Kearney

There were two Motions brough to the meeting, both by the Committee:

“That a National Juvenile Inter-County only Championship be held in conjunction with the National Junior and Senior Inter County Championship”

“That the annual membership fee for Juvenile, Junior and Students be the sum of €90. and €140. for Seniors and Masters ”

Both Motions were carried.

The meeting conclued with a minutes silence in memory of members, family and friends who passed away during the year.
