Stephen Bateson reports: A team of 6 Junior/U23 Athletes traveled north to take part in the Queen University Belfast 5k at the Stranmillis Embankment last night, March 23rd. The course is laps along the embankment crossing the Queens bridge at one of the course and the Ormeau Road bridge at the other.
The Clonliffe men figured prominently with Niall Carbery finishing in a road PB of 15:54 in 27th place, Cillian Keegan in 33rd also had a pb of 16:04, Sean Boyne was 36th in 16:18, another PB, Lee Duddy continued his impressive form with a 17:08 pb. Jack Woods returned to form and finished in 123rd , ran a very solid 17:44 and Cian Murray was 126th in 17:47., his first race back since last September following injury. So overall a very positive and enjoyable outing .
Also running was Caoimhe O’Reilly, in her local race, Caoimhe is a Queens University student, having a positive run as she comes back from injury recording a time of 20.29.
There was a change to the course just before the start due to the parking of some cars close to the finish line, and this may have caused some issue with the results as there were differences between the official time and watch times.
