Emma Mitchell continued her preparations for the Valencia marathon in today’s Valencia half marathon with a 14th place finish in a fine 72.36, only some eight seconds short of her PB. Today’s race of course included a new world record of 62.52 by Letesenbet Gidey (ETH).
Also today Dermot Faughnan recorded a sub- three hour marathon as he led the Clonliffe charge at the Thoroughbred marathon in Kildare passing the post in a time of 2.59.29 in 20th followed in by Alan Curley (3.02.06), Noel O’Dwyer (3.13.31), Mo McCrohan (3.34.31), Andrew Eustace (3.48.26) and Alan Worrall (3.50.23).
In the UK yesterday Eoin Pierce won team bronze with Newhan & Essex Beagles at the South of England cross country relays at Wormwood Scrubs.
