Round up: Murray at Oxy wash out, AAI Games and Kenneally in Terenure

Thursday May 14th saw Clonliffe`s Declan Murray toe the line once again at Oxy, Eagle Rock, California for the Hoka One One Middle Distance Classic, a top class meet featuring the cream on US and indeed World athletics. Murray was 4th in the 800m section 2 in 1.48.68, race winner was 2014 Morton Games 800 runner up Ryan Martin (USA) 1.46.32. The 800m guys were finished before a severe lightening storm forced the meet to be abandoned.

At today`s  (Sunday 17th) AAI Games, held in cold windy conditions in Morton Stadium, Andrew Heney took a good win in the High Jump with a best of 1.95m, and narrowly failed at 2.00, 2nd was Andriu Mahin (1.85m), Andriu was also 5th in the 400 recording a time of 50.69. Ian Rogers was top man in the Pole Vault winning with a vault of 4.80m.

Also in the field events Denise Byrne was 2nd in the javelin (38.80m) and Antiono Andujar 4th in the triple jump (13.10m).

Snezana Bechtina, continues to impress as she makes the transition to the 400, a fine run placing 2nd in 56.77.

Chris Sibanda took in both sprints finishing 1st in the B 100 (11.35) and 5th in the 200 (22.66). Keith Pike was 4th in the A 100 in 11.08, it wasn`t a sprinters day running into a strong breeze.

In the 110H Antino Garcia was 2nd in 15.56. Finally the middle distance boys: Andriu Jenkinson 3rd in the 1500 with a 3.59.78 run and Mark McDonald 6th in the 800 (1.57.87).

Finally on the roads today: Mark Kenneally placed 4th in the Terenure 5 Mile (24.12), John Coleman ran 34.24 and in the Maynooth 10K Declan Power was 2nd in 33.47 with David Brady 9th (36.45)

Finally finally another sub 9 steeple chase by Jayme Rossister at today`s Loughborough International placing 3rd in 8.59.87.
