Weekend round up, Roads and Country (updated)

Saturday, March 9th, Toronto Canada, Laura Tuite was 1st woman and 2nd overall in the Hamilton St Patrick’s 5K which was held in windy and wet conditions. Laura clocked a time of 18.35 in her 1st race of 2024. A word also of the other Irish, and although not members of Clonliffe Harriers they certainly have a strong association with the club (!) Ciaran 4th overall (18.44) and Sean, 6th (20.26).

Also in Belfast at Queens University IUAA cross country championships took place, in the women’s race Jools Hughes was 39th for Queens University and her team took 5th place overall. In the men’s race the clubs top finisher was Stephen Cashin 14th for Trinity in 29.52, 43rd Jack Maughan (29.14), 49th Sean Owens (29.47), 64th Niall Carbery (30.35), 79th Cian Murray (31.35). Apologies for any omissions.

Several club members also ran Park runs to mark women in sport week with a big contingent at the local Poppintree Parkrun led home by 1st woman in 3rd overall Sorcha o’Connor (19.40). Katie Halpin was 1st woman, 9th overall in the Donabate Parkrun (21.18)

The latest BHAA cross country race, AIB NUI 4 mile at Maynooth college where Tom Sherlock was 2nd (23.12) and David Brady 10th (25.28). See bhaa.ie for full results.

Sunday, the 10th Karl Nolan led the Clonliffe pack home in the Bohermeen Half Marathon taking 15th in 72.54, Paul Keenan was 58th (76.52) with John Donlon 78.57.
