Sergiu (twice) and Gary win on road, huge PB and Club Record for Tomas

A great winning weekend for Clonliffe athletes (see earlier postings on Leinster Schools and Juvenile league) continued right through the weekend. First up was Sergiu Ciobanu winning the Sixmilebridge 10k yesterday in a pretty good 30:33. The following morning Sergiu was in Youghal for the Emer Casey 10k, another win, even faster 30:06.  Gary O`Hanlon continued on his rehabilition programme by winning the Maynooth 10k in 32:59 (a difficult course no doubt) chased home by Darren Reilly in 3rd (34:13) and Ernie Ramsey 4th (34:31). Also on the roads Brian McMahon was 2nd in this mornings Tom Byrne 5k promoted by Lucan Harriers (14:55 on Brian`s watch).

Meanwhile at the AAI Games in Morton Stadium today Tomas Rauktys continued his great form from Wednesday`s Graded Meet with a massive PB and new Clonliffe club record (the first of 2012) in the discus of 54.97m, a PB by over two and a half meters! For good measure Tomas also won the shot putt in 16.77. In the 400h Clonliffe athletes placed 2nd. John Fagan in the mens (53.77) and Elaine Begley in the womens (65.11) . Kris Valters was 5th in the 800m in 1:54.97. Ian Rogers continues to work towards full fitness finishing 2nd in the pole vault with a best of 4.40m. 2nd also for Denise Byrne in the javeline with 38.78m. Simon Galligan threw the 6k hammer 50.90m and Ciaran Donohue was 2nd in the 200 B in a time of 22.94. Full results on www.athleticsireland.ie
