Weekend round up

The weekend before Nationals proved to be a busy enough weekend as athletes fine tuned for the big one. Saturday: In Santry the BHAA Irish Life 6k cross country took place on a muddy course in the Demsene with Sean Doran taking a fine placing 1st (20.35).

In Maynooth University Campus the IUAA Road Relays took place. Cathal Doyle ran an impressive 2 mile leg for the DCU A winning team clocking 9.23, the fastest 2nd leg. Also in action were young guns Ben Guiden for DCU C on leg 4, another 2 mile 10.17, 5th fastest 4th leg, and Stephen Cashin Trinity C on leg 2, 10.25, the 10th fastest 2nd leg. In the ladies race Alannah Cooley for DCU B running leg 4, a mile clocked the 5th fastest 4th leg 5.49.

The Clonliffe U/16 & 18 boys squads took in the Poppintree Park Run as their final blow out before Abbotstown, with fine performances from the whole squad filling the first 6 places: 1. Callum Simpson 16.28, 2. Alex Murray 17.23, 3. Sean Boyne 17.23, 4. Alex Neuroth 17.48, 5. John Lawrence 17.50, 6. Niall Carbery 17.52, 9. Jonathan Fitzsimons 19.30, 10. Ronan Donohue 19.32, 13. Josh Scully 19.59, 14. Andrew Gaffney 20.05, 16. Cillian Keegan 20.35 and in Donabte Park Run, 2nd Eoin Byrne 19.40.

Sunday: the Girls U/18 and Juniors took to Abbotstown for a final session of 1500s. Whilst he U14 girls and boys team took to Abbotstown yesterday in preparation for the National Championships next Sunday.

Sunday morning those who could make it also took on the the Junior Parkrun in Albert College.  They were joined by some fine athletes from Paul and Gladys groups with that group filling the first 13 places!
