Saturday Round up: Ian Rogers does it again

The IUAA Track and Field Championships took place on Friday and Saturday in Waterford. Clonliffe Pole Vaulter Ian Rogers continued his excellent 2014 form to add another title to his current year`s list winning for DIT with a best of 4.60m. So far this year Rogers has captured the IUAA Indoor and Outdoor, the Leinster Indoor and National Indoor titles.

Two athletes currently transferring into Clonliffe battled it out over 400 in Waterford with Dara Kervick (DCU) winning in 47.61 with Timmy Crowe (DCU) 2nd (48.29). 2nd place also for Simon Gallagan (RCSI) in the hammer competition with a best throw of 51.00. Also in action at the IUAA`s was Caoimhe Morris (Blanchardstown IT) 6th in the Discus (35.67) and Laura Brennan (TCD) 14th in the 1500m (5.30.8).

On the roads Tom Sherlock finished 2nd in the Chartered Accountant`s Charity race the Leinster Society Aware 10k in the Phoenix Park in 35.52.

Also on Saturday the BHAA road race season continued with the K Club 10k in Straffan where Clonliffe runners included Ernie Ramsey 35.36, Joseph Cooper 37.13 and Maura Matthews 40.26. Full results click: http://bhaa.ie/events/k-club-2014/
