Sergiu in the frame to reclaim National Marathon title

The Clonliffe men`s team looks well in the hunt for team honours at Monday week`s National Marathon held in conjunction with the Dublin City Marathon. The team is lead by Sergiu Ciobanu who looks to try to reclaim the National title, Sergiu was runner up in 2011 having taken the title the two previous years. Sergiu has been in excellent form the last few weeks over the half marathon distance and unusally for him has race very sparingly over the marathon distance since missing out on Olympic qualification by a mere 25 seconds for his native Moldova in the Spring. Also in the running  will be Gary O`Hanlon. Over the last six months Gary has been the master on the road racing circuit and his progress on bank holiday Monday will be watched with great interest. Another athlete who will featured in the team scorring is Chris Muldoon, a new addition to the Clonliffe squad this year. Spies report that Chris has been flying in the early morning Sunday runs in the Phoenix Park, and there are predictions of a huge PB being on the cards. Other Clonliffe athletes to keep an eye out for are Fergie Keenan, Pat Devitt and of course a very big women`s contingent including making her marathon debut Ailish Malone, Anna Begley, Emma Harding, Jacqui Dunphy,  Grainne O`Brien, club 5,000m champion Fiona Hayes and Sinead Duffy, to name but a few (see earlier posting for full women`s team)
