Athlone was the venue for today’s National Masters indoor championships. As always with the Masters the event drew very substantial numbers including a lot of Clonliffe Harrier athletes. Success came in the 1500 with Tom Sherlock taking M35 gold in 4.20.79 and brother Niall silver 4.22.72. 1500 Silver also for Jenny Johnston W35 (5.00.61). In the 60 Connor McDonagh was 5th (7.85).
Snezana Bechtina bagged W40 200 gold in 27.08, while Conor McDonagh was outside the medals in M40 200 running 25.91. Snezana also took silver in the 400 (61.44.2)
In the high jump Edel Maguire went 1.35m to take W60 gold and also took 400 gold (71.97.1).
Niall Sherlock later in the day took a superb M35 800 gold in 2.12 01. Silver was taken in the 65 category by George Marbury (2.52.79). Whilst David Dunwoody was in that unlucky 4th place in the M50 category (2.20.12) and went one better bagging M50 400 bronze (61.11.4)
Making it a great day for the Sherlocks Tom was in golden form also in M35 3000. (No time available). Philip O’Doherty took M60 3000 bronze (10.30.87).
