Silver Medal for Mark Kenneally in National Inter-Counties

Clonliffe’s Mark Kenneally was runner-up in the National Inter-County Cross Country Championship held at Sligo Race Course on Sunday the 27th of November.

Gary Murray added the National Inter-County title to the National Inter-Club title he won at Santry Demesne in February thanks to a tremendous display of front running. Murray hit the front from the gun and was chased by Robert Connolly of DSD who had taken the Dublin Cross Country Championship at a canter in Santry in the last couple of weeks however, Connolly pulled up at half way, later rejoining the race to finish well down the field. Murray finished a comfortable winner in 33:11.

Mark Kenneally finished quite comfortably 30 seconds in arrears to take runner-up spot and Silver medal (Mark took Bronze last year) and there was a tremendous battle for 3rd place which was claimed by Garrett Turnbull after a tremendous battle with David Kelly.

Mark will now join Clonliffe club mate Alistair Cragg, who was pre-selected, in the Irish Team for the forthcoming European Cross Country Championshipsto be held in Tilbrug, Holland on the 12th of December.
