St. Patrick’s weekend and more round up (updated)

The St. Patrick’s weekend round up in truly Irish fashion starts last weekend! Stephen Rice was 5th in the javelin at the European Throwing Cup in Samorin, Slovakia between the 9th and 10th of March. Stephen threw a best of 67.34m, although not quiet where his form is it was his 3rd best ever throw.

Then Sunday March 17th at the Streets of Portlaoise 5k Sean Doran ran 15.57. In Balbrigan at the Half Marathon James Fleming was 8th in 1.29.58 while Maurice McHale ran 1.40.00.

Monday the 18th saw a bumper entry for the MSB St. Patrick’s 5k in Dublin City. The was a fine turn out of Clonliffe athletes lead home in 2nd place by double All Ireland school’s champion Efrem Gidey. Efrem was beaten into 2nd place in a sprint finish by DSD’s Hiko Tonosa Efrem recording a fine 14.53. Sean O’Leary was 3td (15.08), Sean Doran, running his 2nd race in 24 hours, was 6th in 15.45, some 12 seconds faster than he ran yesterday and with Daniel Lacey 13th in 16.18 these 4 combined to easily take the team win. Other Clonliffe: 15th Sean Carrigg 16.28, 59th Eoghan Murphy 17.38, Eimear  O’Brien,  in her final outing as a Clonliffe Harrier before her transfer to Sligo, 18.38, Emma Cooper 20.03, Alan Hughes 19.55, Fionnula Doherty 20.21 and Laura Kiernan 20.55.
