Sun and athletes shine at Club Juvenile C’ships

Eugenia Bateson: On a scorcher of a morning in the Morton Stadium approximately 100 Juvenile athletes from U9 to U16 took part in their Club Juvenile Championships.
A well-run event coordinated by Gladys saw athletes take part in sprints, distances, Shot Putt, Turbo Javelin, Javelin and Long Jump.
Club President Mick Kearney proudly presented medals to our very worthy athletes who battled hard for a Gold, Silver or Bronze.  It truly was a great spectacle to see all the hard work and training pay off and to see some of our new athletes put their toe to the line in what was their first race.
Parents were cheering from the stands, coaches proudly showing off the talented athletes, a thoroughly enjoyable morning.  A special thanks to all the parents who chipped in to help and to our U15 and U16 athletes who also helped to officiate having completed their own events.  It was great to see these young mentors encouraging our younger athletes.
