Sunday Round up

Stephen Scullion continued his Boston Marathon preparations with a 63.53 half marathon on the Antrim Coast this morning to finish 10th. Race winner was Jemal Yimer (ETH) 60.29. Stephen’s 5k splits were: 14.42, 15.25, 15.22, 18.23 (6.1k). Declan Power was 43rd in 72.30. In the “mass” race Karl Nolan 71.40 a pb by about a minute! An even bigger pb by Shane Caffery, all of 2 minutes, as he clocked 79.16. Post race on twitter Stephan had this to say: “One thing you can’t alter on race day is your fitness, and today I realized there’s gaps in my fitness. Racing is the only true marker of fitness, but I dug in through a few tough middle miles & finished strong. GNR in two weeks and I can try run a bit faster.”

Also this morning at the Bohermeen 5 Mile Sean Doran was 4th in 25.27 behind a Raheny one two of Kevin Dooney 23.54 and Mick Clohisey 23.57 . Dave Brady in 24th in 28.35 was the only other Clonliffe athlete in the race.
