National Cross Country Champion Sergiu Ciobanu is clearly not one to rest on his laurels. Showing no ill effects of his exertions over 12,000m on the country seven days ago Sergiu made it a magnificent three Ballycotton 10`s in succession early this afternoon. On a blustry cold day in the County Cork village Sergiu joined a select few that have managed the feat of 3 in a row in this the most prestigious of Irish road races. Sergiu won in a time of 49.17, some three seconds faster than his 2012 winning time and with a winning margin of the best part of a minute to boot. Another good run also in the Ballycotton 10 by one of the heroes of last weekend Michael MacDiarmada 8th in 52.59. Declan Power was 1st O/40 in 54.44 and 18th overall. A fine run also by Kieran Murphy 62.16 and also from Alan Worrall 66.12.
Another man not resting on his laurels is Gary O`Hanlon. Gary currently living the old John Walker moto of “have spikes, will race” (but in Gary`s case it`s flats) retained his Bohermeen Spring Half Marathon title today in a time of 69.42. Also in Bohermeen Maurice McCrohan ran 82.17 in 40th place.
