Three inter wins for Clonliffe athletes at CBS

The All Ireland CBS Track and Field Championships at Morton Stadium yesterday got the schools track and field season underway. Clonliffe athletes were in fine form in the red and white vest of St. Aidans with three wins taken on the day.

Joseph Hession took a superb 800m inter win after a great battle with Dylan Gibbons down the home straight Joseph chopping some 2 seconds off his pb in running 2.04 with Dylan a fraction behind in 2nd. Greg Hosseny was 5th, Shane Merrigan 6th and illness victim Alex Gibbons 8th.

Inter gold also for Cathal Doyle in the 1500m again after a good battle with club mate Brian Flanagan. Brian making the run for home with 400 to go but Cathal patient to wait and then run him down over the latter stages, Brian ending up 3rd. David O`Hanlon was far away in 4th with Sean Carrigg 6th.

Completing an inter middle distance sweep was Adam O`Brien winning the 3,000m.

Other Clonliffe/St. Aidans medalists were Niall Norman 3rd in the senior 3,000 and Alex Hogan 3rd in the junior 1500, Sean O`Leary was 4th in this one and 5th in the high jump.  Good runs also by Ross Kearney 4th in the senior 1500, Fintan McManus 6th in the junior 800 and Jack Horan 5th in the inter 800.
