Top class stuff at Nationals

Although there were no additional medals taken by Clonliffe athletes from today`s most enjoyable 2nd day of the Nationals there were great efforts put in. Lauren Carr in her first senior championships put in a fine performance in the 200 final placing a most commendable 5th place in 25.43. In the 100B final Isreal Ibanu ran 11.27 for 7th.

The superb 400 race saw Luke Lennon-Ford place 5th (47.71) , in a race won by Chris O’Donnell (North Sligo) 47.05. Timmy Crowe was 6th in the 400H 55.31.

In an excellent 5000 final Ian Guiden put in a top class run to place 7th in a pb of 14.39.67. DSD’s Hiko Tonosa was the national champion (14.21.41), Colm Rooney battled to 8th (14.45.67). A fantastic 1500 saw Donore’s John Travers take the title (3.49.40), the Clonliffe trio all put in good runs: 6th Cathal doyle (3.51.20), 8th Eoin Pierce (3.52.01) 16th U/19 Aaron Cullen 4.05.93.

Keith Marks was 5th in the long jump (7.24m).
