Tough conditions in Santry for O`Connor cup

Nov 6, 2010 [Stephen Byrne] This afternoon seen the curtain come down on the 2010 Grand Prix series with the running of the O’Connor Cup in Santry Demesne. The race over 4 miles seen the athletes tackle four difficult laps with soft underfoot conditions after the last few days of rain.

From the off a group with series leader Ernie Ramsey, Philip O’Doherty and guest Niall Sherlock opened a gap at the front. This trio traded positions for the first couple of laps before Niall pushed on with Ernie and Philip not too far behind. Niall went on to win the race with Ernie in 2th place and Philip in 3rd. Behind in the group a number of interesting jousts were taking place with no more than a couple of seconds seperating Emma Cooper and Kieran Murphy from start to the finish with Emma pipping Kieran to the line.
