Track & Field round up: Gregan is back!

A busy weekend for Clonliffe athletes both at home and away. A sizeable contingent joined the dozens of Irish athletes at today’s IFAM Oordegem in Belgium. The big news of course is Brian Gregan’s successful return to the track for his first outdoor race in some 4 or 5 years. Brian today clocked a solid 47.49 over 400. Another fine run also for Leah Bergin also in the 400 clocking a time of 55.41. In the 100’s Chris Sibanda clocked 10.58, Leo Morgan 10.94 and Keith Pike 11.04. In the 200 Chris ran a PB of 21.45, Leo also entered the 200 recording a time of 22.41. Also in the 200s was Francois Coroller 22.10. Young Sean Cronin also ran a PB in the late night 1500s. He was 5th in his race in 3.55.19.

Also today, and continuing Sunday, is the Leinster track and field championships in Carlow. Grace Casey took senior javelin gold (42.74). Anna Heavey ran a 400 PB of 59.28 and in the process grabbed Leinster senior bronze. Clodagh Dunbar was 8th in that 400 in a time of 63.70. Snezana also took W40 100 gold (13.30). In the 100 senior Michael Deady was 6th in his heat (11.55). In the Masters divisions Snezana Bechtina won W40 gold, and also won the overall Masters race in a time of 60.83. Joe Gibbons took M 60 javelin bronze (15.98) and was 8th in the WFD (3.54)

Cian Murray ran a 3000 pb of 9.46.69 at the Mary Peters Track in the North Down AC meet placing 6th in the A race.

At the BMC meet in Manchester this afternoon Greta Streimikyte was 10th in the 1500 C in 4.33.96.
