U/17 Girls win silver at Dublin Juvenile relays in Tallaght

There was more under age success last night in the Tallaght Stadium for the Clonliffe juvenile athletes at tonight`s Dublin Juvenile (uneven ages) Relay championships as a very young Clonliffe U/17 girls squad made up mainly of middle distace athletes won 4 X 300m silver behind MSB. The team was lead off by Kate Hession who ran a very good opening leg from the blocks passing onto Sally Aherne, Laura Tuite and on the home leg Stephanie McCaul. Later in the evening the same squad put in a sterling effort in the 4 X 100m and after a strong race by all finished just out of the medals in 4th place.

The U/13 girls had gotten the evening off at 7.00pm sharp in the heats, Gerry Carr having two teams in action, the team of Katie, Caoimhe, Sol and Ruth making the final and after a close race finished up in 5th, just inches off a medal. The U/13 boys team of David, Keelan, Ben and Stephen also put in a very good shift finishing in 7th, again this was a young squad. The U/15 boys, Sean Carrigg, Joseph Hession, Greg Hossenny and Thomas Ward, were a little disappointed finishing in 7th place, however, it must be said in all fairness to the guys  that a 4 X 100 is a big ask of middle distance and cross country athletes.

Well done to all. Next week we`re back in Tallaght for the even age Dublin Relays.
