With the club activity starting to ramp up again after the, very brief it must be said, break the club has a number of racing opportunities for our club members over the coming months. Attention is obviously turning out towards the cross country season with the highlight being the national junior/seniors on November 21st. In addition athletes can look forward to novice, intermediate and master competition at Dublin, Leinster and national level. Obviously there are difficulties from a planning perspective with the absence of confirmed dates for Dublin competition but we do at least know the dates of national competitions.
The club will be holding a number of club events over the coming months. These events are a bit of a ‘movable feast’ as dates might have to be shifted once we have confirmation of Dublin dates and so on. Also please note that the race director of the Clonliffe 2 has confirmed that this race originally penciled in for Setember 19th will now take place at a later date this year. A lot will depend upon the level of restrictions and whether permission will be granted for the holding of an open road race later in the autumn. If not then the Clonliffe 2 will, as in 2020, be held as a closed club race on the track.
While the National Masters track and field will take place, in Morton Stadium in fact on September 5 we do not currently have any certainty as regards whether the national road relays which are on the calendar for September 12 will take place or be deferred. Please see the fixtures section of this website for the current status of events, this will be added to and changed as the landscape changes.
The club races confirmed for September are: Night of 3000’s on September 9th and the Club 10,000 on September 30th. (Entry will open the weekend before each race, with the same entry procedure we have used to date).
