Weekend round up

In addition to the club cross country championshipsit was a busy weekend’s action on the country, boards and roads for Clonliffe athletes. Young Tom Breslin did himself and the club proud yesterday as he won his first Irish vest at the U/17 International in Perth, Scotland. Tom placed 26th U/17 and was 5th scorer on the Irish team.

At the NIA Abbotstown Craig Duffy ran 7.07 in National U/23 60 placing 3rd in his heat and 22.71 in his 200 heat qualifying for the final, however was a DNS. In the U/23 800 Adrion jordan clocked 1.54.91 in his heat to qualify for the final where he placed 6th (1.56.38). In the U/20 1500 Sean Cronin was 7th (4.10.36) in heat 2. In heat 1 Lorcan Benjacar was 1st clocking 4.11.27 to finish 9th overall.

There was a big group running in the Half Marathon Festival in Donadea. In the first race: Niall Markey 1:50.02, Joseph Fowler 1:57.12, Philip Richards 1:57.12. Race no. 2: Marcus Shipley was 3rd in 1:25.03 with Mick McMahon 5th 1:25.44. Others: Timothee Laurent 1:36.45, Mary Ketterer 1:40.06, Mick Bermingham 1:40.07, Shane Rooney 1:40.17, Declan Grant 1:46.02, Eamonn O’Neill 1:52.31, Anne Lyons 1:52.41, Alan Hughes 1:54.50, Sean Grimes 1:57.35.
