The first of the Dublin Athletic Board’s graded Meets took place in the Morton Stadium last night. It was a bitterly cold windy night with rain towards the latter end of the evening meaning it was pretty unpleasant conditions for both athletes and officials.
From a Clonliffe perspective Rebecca Fitzsimons enjoyed a win in Grade C of the Women’s 100 in a time of 13.45. In the men’s race C number 2 Thomas Moran was 3rd in 12.42 with Kristin Bosnjak 5th in 12.78.
The women’s 800 A saw good Clonliffe representation with Alannah Cooley finishing 4th (2.21.11), Hannah Browne 7th 2.26.25 and Orna McGinley 8th 2.27.16.
In the men’s 800s Grade A race 1 saw a good run from Cian Bolger to finish 8th in 2.00.22 with Jack Maughan 11th 2.09.22. In Grade A race 2 Joey Hession made a welcome return to the track running 2.03.79 for 8th place. In Grade B Daniel Stone was 4th (2.07.13) and in Grade C Niall Sherlock was 2nd (2.11.96) Finally in the 3000 combined race A and B Alex Gibbons placed 4th (9.13.80), Thomas Sherlock – kitting out for the second race of the evening was 6th 9.16.25, Greg Hossenny was 11th 9.42.29 and in the combined B and C race Joseph Keane had a fine run to finish 2nd in 9.27.58 with Ian McAweeney 8th – 10.00.13.
