Women take national half bronze

News just in of our women`s senior team taking bronze in today`s National Half Marathon hosted by St.Abbans AC in Carlow. First Clonliffe lady home was Ailish McDermott, who continues her excellent form shown throughout the Summer on both the track and road. Ailish ran a top class 1:25.11 to finish 6th woman, an excellent performance. Another Clonliffe lady running really well at the moment is Maire Byrne. Maire was in inspired form today with an impressive 1:31.09. Not far behind Marie was the final scorer Joyce O`Hare 1:32.01. With the championship decided on combined times of the first three Ailish, Marie and Joyce took National Senior Bronze, delivering Clonliffe`s first team womens senior medals for maybe a decade. Superb! These three were well backed up by Maura Matthes (1:35.26), Jacqui Dunphy (1:35.33), Rachel McBride (1:37.58) and Ciara Brennan (1:40.44)In the men`s race Lorcan Cronin, with last Sunday`s Longford half still in his legs, was top Clonliffe man in 7th place (1:12.07).
