Below par Clonliffe finish well down field at Europeans

May 30, 2011 [Noel Guiden] Disappointing news from Belgrade confirms the worst fears that the Clonliffe men`s senior team would struggle in the European Club`s track and field group B on Saturday. With the squad having been decimated by injuries, illness and unavailabilities, resulting in the likes of Mark Kenneally, Dave Flynn, Brian Gregan, Patrick O`Connor and Danny Kavanagh not making the trip, it was always going to be an uphill battle. Final results now to hand with Clonliffe regrettably propping up the table in 8th position, pretty disappointing to say the least. The positives while few, are John Fagan`s excellent 400H running a new PB and club record of 52.38, taking two tenths off his record from last season, Dave Fitzmaurice (left) ran very well finishing 3rd in the 3,000m in 8.52.39, good runs also from young Jamie Rossister a PB of 9.42.58 in the 3,000 sc and also from Conor Healy in the 800m.
