Heney claims National High Jump title

There was more success for Clonliffe athletes on Day 2 of the GloHealth National Indoor Championships in Athlone today. The highlight was another National title claimed by Andrew Heney in the High Jump with a 2.00m clearance.

Also in the field events Ausra Jermubauskyte added silver to the bronze she won yesterday as she placed 2nd in the triple jump with a final jump of 11.73m.

The sprinters were in fine form with a Clonliffe 2 and 3 in the men`s 60 from Keith Pike 6.87 (a mere 100th off his club record) and Chris Sibanda 6.91. This after a 6.90, from Chris, and 9.92, from Keith, semi final effort. Chris`day was not concluded as he then took an excellent silver in the 200 in 21.71.

Overseas David Flynn continued on the US road race circuit with a 69.45 time in the New Orleans Rock and Roll Half Marathon today, hitting the 10k split in 31.59, with a 5.20 mpm average.
