Weekend round up – Healy, Doran and the League teams

Conor Healy ran a new personal best time for the 1500m of 3.49.19 in Merksem, just outside Antwerp on Saturday night. Returning to this familiar venue Conor broke his 8 year old best time in finishing 8th in his race.

On Sunday morning, there was a notable victory by Sean Doran, when he earned his maiden BHAA victory in winning the Fire Brigade 5k with a time of 15.58. This brought him home 10 seconds ahead of former National marathon medallist Eoin Flynn. Joyce O’Hare was 3rd in the women’s race with 19.49.

Competing in Belfast, both Men’s and Women’s track and field teams were looking to secure their qualification for the National League final in three weeks, where the men will hope to retain the title won last year, and the women looking to improve on their 5th place from 2016.

The men finished joint first with Crusaders on the day to qualify, while the women were joint 3rd, but across the two rounds of the league failed to qualify.
