Brother Clonliffe Schools Invitational Cross Country launched

Clonliffe Harriers today launched the 2012 Brother at your side Clonliffe Schools Invitational Cross Country. The event takes place on Wednesday the 10th of October at Santry Demesne Parkland situated at the rear of the Morton Stadium Santry.

Launching the event Mr. Sean Sheehan, the MD of Brother Ireland stated: “I am delighted that Brother will again sponsor this great schools cross country event held by our friends in Clonliffe Harriers. This is the fourth year in which Brother have been involved with this event which has gone from strength to strength. The enthusiasm displayed by the young athletes who have taken part over the last few years is infectious and the importance of young people being involved in sport cannot be overstated. Once again it is my pleasure to confirm that Brother will again sponsor the unique t-shirt which is given to all participants in these races together with a piece of office equipment from the Brother range to each of the best girls and boys primary schools and each of the best boys and girls secondary schools. I am very much looking forward to the event on the 10th of October next.”

Last year`s  Brother at your side Clonliffe Schools Cross Country was the most successful schools cross country race hosted by Clonliffe Harriers in a long number of years with more than 1000 young athletes running in the event which was held in a perfect autumnal sunshine afternoon in Santry Demesne Parkland. Highlights on that day included the huge fields of young athletes in the primary schools races from around 20 local schools, an excellent performance from the boys from St. Patrick’s College Navan in the Junior Boys Race, taking part in the Brother Race for the first time, total domination in the girls secondary schools races by Colaiste Iosagain but really just an excellent afternoon’s athletics which was thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance, the athletes, their teachers, parents, spectators and officials.

October 10th 2012 will be more of the same!
